If you are struggling with anxiety, chances are you are struggling with stomach issues as well.

Why fear causes stomach problems: When someone is afraid, it activates their fight-or-flight response, which directs the body to survive a perceived threat. This reaction increases blood flow to the heart (which causes palpitations) and the lungs (which leads to hyperventilation), preventing the stomach from functioning as effectively as it normally would.

What anxiety-related stomach problems look like:

Stomach problems can appear in many different ways, including:

  • Colon cramps
  • Tweak in construction
  • General pain and discomfort
  • diarrhea
  • nausea
